We provide support and caring friendship to the elderly and allow them to remain independent and living in their own homes for as long as possible.
The need to aid the elderly in Monmouth County is tremendous and continues to grow as the Baby Boomer generation ages and the elderly are living longer.
Companions Who Care responds to this need by matching able volunteers from local church communities with the elderly. The support that volunteers provide allows many older adults to maintain their independence and a more fulfilled life, while they might otherwise have been forced to give up their home or suffer the common afflictions of depression and loneliness. By joining our efforts and bringing Companions Who Care to your church, you can help to transform the quality of life of an older adult.

Caring Services
Are you, or someone you care for, in need of practical, emotional and spiritual support? We can help you remain independent and living in your own home for as long as possible.

Access to medical care they need.
Our volunteers drive elderly incapable to drive themselves to all sorts of medical appointments so they can get the care they need and remain independent.

Food security.
Lack of food in the home is an unfortunate reality for many seniors. Our volunteers assist elderly who struggle getting around with their grocery shopping.

Respite care.
Our volunteers ensure caregivers can step out of their everyday routine and take the time to relax, re-energize, and refresh.

Loneliness.
Through friendly visits, elderly and volunteers who might never have met find common bonds and enrich each others’ lives in Monmouth County.
Companions Who Care is a ministry of Love Thy Neighbor of New Jersey.
Love Thy Neighbor came into existence in 1994 to meet the needs of the Monmouth County community through our partnership with local churches. Churches are a plentiful resource in our community, with caring members who strongly desire to serve their neighbors in need. However many churches encounter obstacles as they try to fulfill their mission to serve. Love Thy Neighbor is dedicated to helping churches transform love into action by carrying out a ministry that is organized, collaborative, responsive and effective.
Every year Love Thy Neighbor provides support to thousands of children and adults throughout Monmouth County by helping the elderly, providing rental assistance, furniture, haul out service, used cars, Christmas gifts, free haircuts, prayer support and home visits. We are blessed to have a dedicated staff and a partnership with 141 churches and 34 Monmouth County Agencies. We have a vision for the future and with the support of our many volunteers and donors we make that vision a reality every day.
