The Care Giving Friends Program, partners with local churches to establish teams of volunteers to provide practical, emotional and spiritual support to older adults in need of assistance.
The team approach allows time flexibility for volunteers (typically 2 hours 2 times per month) while still providing a variety of services. Without this assistance, many older adults face losing their independence. Caregiving Friends works with churches by training volunteers and helping to identify older adults in need. In addition, we act as a referral source for aging adults for resources within Monmouth County, including areas such as Medicare by offering free help to Medicare beneficiaries through a SHIP Counselor (State Health Insurance Assistance).
In 2015 our Care Giving Friends volunteers donated over 2229 hours of transportation to the doctor, errands, grocery shopping, preparing meals, visits and friendship to many older adults.
