How can I help?
The benefits of becoming a Caregiving Friend are tremendous. Volunteers time and again comment that they love that Caregiving Friends provides: time flexibility, an opportunity to offer a variety of skills, a built-in team support system, and the chance to be a blessing and source of hope.
If Caregiving Friends is already at your church:
You can join a small group team that works together to provide practical, emotional, and spiritual support to the elderly person they are helping.
If Caregiving Friends is not at your church:
Please contact us at 732-542-7012 ext. 103 to start a small group team.
What to Expect
Becoming a Caregiving Friend requires a minimum time commitment of two flexible two hour segments each month. There is also a one-time two hour training session to help you get acquainted with our program and your role and responsibilities as a volunteer.
Volunteers help to provide practical, emotional and spiritual support to older adults who may not be able to remain independent and in their own home without the assistance of others.
Frequently our volunteers work in teams with other volunteers which gives everyone more scheduling flexibility. You can also work independently as a volunteer and have a one-on-one relationship with an older adult. Volunteer activities include providing transportation to the doctor, food shopping, running errands, visiting and providing caregiver relief (respite care).
If you can help at least 2 hours 2 times per month we can definitely use your help!
